The International Gymnastics Hall
of Fame was founded by long-time publisher Glenn
M. Sundby. Providing space in his magazine to promote
the idea of a truly international site, Glenn held
onto the dream of creating a site for visitors
to walk through and see those selected to be honored.
He traveled the globe in search of information
and soliciting items from friends world-wide. He
then dedicated several rooms in his business location
to display many of the articles collected over
the years. He never wavered from his dream and
eventually asked for help from a number of gymnastics
associates. A Board of Directors was formed and
a system for selection of qualified "inductees" and
a format for appropriately honoring them was developed.
The Hall of Fame was relocated from Oceanside,
California to Okahoma City, Oklahoma in the Fall
of 1995. While a permanent home for the Hall is
being developed an introductory exhibit is
located in the magnificent Science Museum Oklahoma,
Oklahoma City, where it welcomes visitors from
around the world. It features
the "Wall of Fame" with portraits of
all the inductees along with interactive displays.
An annual, formal Induction Ceremony to honor those selected is held each year in Oklahoma City.
