Savino Guglielmetti competed on the 1932 Olympic team in Los Angeles, the 1936 Olympic teams in Berlin and the 1948 Olympic team in London. It took the Italian Olympic team twelve days by ship to travel from Europe to the U.S. and another five days by train to go from New York to Los Angeles. Mr. Guglielmetti tells us that to maintain their level of fitness, each time the train stopped, their coach had them run a lap around the entire train before re-boarding. The Italians won the Olympic team medal at the 1932 Games in Los Angeles. At 86 years of age, Mr. Guglielmetti was the oldest Olympian to be honored at the 1998 Induction Ceremony.
