BRUNO GRANDI

Bruno Grandi is inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame on the basis for his unparalleled contributions as a leader, educator, and motivator within the sport - roles which span five decades of involvement.
Most widely known as the current President of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), Mr. Grandi has led the world governing body of the sport through a dynamic, challenging period of change and growth. Most recently re-elected as FIG President in 2001, Mr. Grandi has marshalled the collective talents and interests of the artistic, rhythmic and general gymnastics branches of the sport, as well as welcoming new discipline under the FIG umbrella, including trampoline and sports acrobatics
Born May 9, 1934, in Forli, Italy, Mr. Grandi grew up to compete as a member of the Italian junior gymnastics team. He earned his teachers diploma from the Higher Institute for Physical Education in Rome. During his long and accomplished career as an educator, coach and sports administrator, he has elevated and strengthened the sport of gymnastics on countless fronts. For this work, and in recognition also of his contributions still to come, Mr. Bruno Grandi is inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame for Lifetime Achievement.
